Method for connecting power supply to motherboard wiring

The cables connecting the computer power supply to the motherboard mainly include the main power supply line of the motherboard, the auxiliary power supply line for the CPU, and the jumpers for the switches/indicators on the front panel of the case. First, the current motherboard mostly uses a 24PIN interface for power supply. Our power supply also has a 24PIN interface, and it can be inserted directly corresponding to the interface. This connection method has a foolproof design, so it is generally not possible to insert it wrongly. Follow the principle of matching the interface and aligning the markings to operate. The specific insertion method is as follows:

After the motherboard power supply connection is completed, simply connect the 4-pin power supply interface of the installed CPU to the corresponding slot position.

Next comes the power supply for the hard drive. The power supply for the hard drive also uses a 4-pin interface. Just connect it to the corresponding interface on the hard drive.

If you still have an independent graphics card installed in your computer, generally, better independent graphics cards require separate power supply, while poorer ones are powered by the motherboard connected to them. The interface for requiring separate power supply for graphics cards is also 4PIN, similar to the power supply interface for the CPU.

Finally, let's talk about the motherboard jumpers. This is also a problem that many novice computer builders find very troublesome. It mainly involves the connections of the power supply, the power button on the case, the restart button, and the power indicator on the case. In fact, the interfaces that can be randomly connected are mainly the interfaces that connect the motherboard to the case. Currently, the front audio interface, USB interface, and 1394 interface all adopt a very standard integrated module design, and will never be inserted incorrectly. The only things that need to be noted are the front panel switches, restart, power on, and hard drive indicator lights. To be more specific, in the connection between the motherboard and the case, the switches and restart buttons do not have positive or negative polarity. As long as they are inserted in the correct position, it will be fine.

At the same time, it is essential to ensure that the power is turned off and the power plug is removed before performing the wiring operation. Release the static electricity on your hands (touch the metal part of the chassis) to avoid damaging the hardware with static electricity. Do not use brute force when inserting. If it does not fit, check the interface direction or whether the latch is aligned. Forceful insertion or removal will damage the pins or the interface. The cables of the full-module power supply need to be oriented correctly: the end marked "PSU" is connected to the power module port, and the end marked "CPU/MB" is connected to the motherboard.
